HP Extends Automated Change and Configuration to the Network with Voyence

Palo Alto, Calif., June 8, 2006 – HP today announced that it will offer customers an automated network change and configuration management solution through a licensing agreement with Voyence, Inc.

The solution, HP OpenView Network Configuration Manager, integrates Voyence technology to extend change, configuration and release management processes to devices such as routers, hubs and switches – regardless of device manufacturer. Compatible with information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) best practices, the solution enables IT staff to identify, implement and validate changes to optimize the use of IT infrastructure.

HP OpenView Network Configuration Manager also tracks and reports on network configuration changes for the purpose of audit and compliance reporting. This builds on the ability of HP OpenView software to immediately remediate non-compliant configurations and provide single-click proof of compliance.

“HP OpenView Network Configuration Manager will enable customers to manage and respond to change, including change within the network domain, even more efficiently than before,” said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, OpenView Business Unit, HP. “We have integrated Voyence technology because it offers the most extensive support of devices from multiple manufacturers, giving customers even more choice and investment protection.”

According to IDC,(1) the worldwide network configuration management market will increase from $768 million in 2004 to $1.12 billion by 2009 at a compound annual growth rate of 7.8 percent. The growth in this market is driven by a number of key factors, including pressure on IT organizations to drive operational efficiency, automate IT operations and processes, and align business units for regulatory compliance.

“The value of today’s IT infrastructure is a component of its operational efficiency, availability and security,” said Susan Nash, chief executive officer, Voyence, Inc. “Only by controlling changes made to device configurations can the network operator be assured the network meets corporate defined network design, security policies and government regulatory requirements. Our extended relationship with HP enhances these capabilities by offering a more comprehensive solution to help customers better manage the network change and device configuration process associated with distributed, multi-vendor infrastructures.”

With the integration of HP OpenView Network Configuration Manager, HP is extending the HP OpenView portfolio to provide a complete network lifecycle management solution and end-to-end automated configuration management of the data center, including network devices, servers, client PCs and their associated operating systems, applications and patches.

Additionally, HP Services offers consulting and integration services that leverage ITIL best practices to help customers reengineer the change, configuration and release management processes.
