Survey Reveals More Than 90 Percent of IT Managers Cannot Prove Network Compliance With Government Regulations

Survey Indicates ITIL Best Practice Projects Accelerating Due To Compliance Requirements

Richardson, Texas, March 22, 2006 – Voyence, a pioneer in automated change and configuration management solutions, today announced the results of a survey taken at Pink Elephants’ 10th Annual International IT Service Management Conference from Feb. 12-14, 2006. Voyence sampled 83 random IT administrators at the show to determine the industry’s readiness for regulatory compliance demands and how quickly the industry is adopting IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.

Regulatory Compliance
Results of the survey reveal that the vast majority of IT administrators are not able to prove their networks meet government compliance mandates today.

Voyence’s survey uncovered:

• 98 percent of those surveyed are not completely sure if network devices are configured properly and securely.
• 95 percent admitted they are not happy with their current compliance documenting capabilities.
• 93 percent of IT administrators cannot prove to the CIO their network is in compliance.
• 88 percent do not have confidence in their current compliance, change and configuration management processes.
• 80 percent of IT administrators still rely on simple spreadsheets to track complex and critical network configuration information and change logs.

ITIL Adoption
ITIL is the most widely accepted approach to IT service management in the world, facilitating the deployment of standard practices for the successful provisioning of IT services. Of those surveyed, however, only 23 percent of respondents have ITIL implementations. Eighty-two percent of IT administrators are in the process of ITIL deployments and 47 percent of those surveyed expect to accelerate these projects over the next 18 months.
